Overview
Munchkin Inc. is looking for a skilled Cost Engineer to join our team. This individual will report to our Director of Sourcing and will be responsible for developing cost estimates for different types of consumer products, predominantly juvenile and pet based. The Cost Engineer will partner closely with the development, design and marketing.
Responsibilities
• Evaluate product design and develop cost estimate by creating a BOM and internal cost sheet.
• Analyze product design to effect maximum utilization of materials, methods and processes in order to meet cost objectives and quality specifications
• Responsible for maintaining a material cost library as well as product cost filing.
• Examine parts and components to ascertain purpose, cost and value by utilizing knowledge of product design and budgetary considerations
• Guide development groups into optimizing the content and features of products given the constraints of selling prices and margin expectations
• Negotiate quotes submitted by vendors to achieve the best costs possible.

Experience Required
• Able to work within a fast paced creative environment and effectively communicate key information and options with short deadlines.
• Highly organized individual which possess strong analytical and computer skills especially in Excel.
• Proven ability to accurately estimate manufacturing costs of multiple SKUs.
• Strong problem solving skills
• Previous experience working in a factory or working with China is preferred
BA in Engineering (or equivalent degree) with a minimum of 5 years of practical cost engineering experience in toy and/or consumer products is required.
