My Duck is dedicated to all of us Breast Cancer Princesses. The crown she wears symbolizes Victory and the butterfly in the crown symbolizes Resurrection and the Princess sash to symbolize just how special we are. My Duck is a reminder to me of how much my husband loves me, how he always treats me like a Princess and always makes me feel special and loved. When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer my husband, John, walked with me and held my hand through the whole journey. When I came home from the hospital after my mastectomy and trans flap reconstruction I really was a Princess in my husband's eyes. The care, the love, the commitment, the surprises, the list goes on. I am truly blessed. I'm also reminded through My Duck the love of our Lord. My victory over Breast Cancer was His victory. Like the butterfly that disappears into a cocoon and appears dead, but emerges later far more beautiful and powerful than before is symbolic to me of how a Breast Cancer Survivor begins the Breast Cancer journey as a cocoon and then ends the journey resurrection as a beautiful Princess Butterfly.

Hope. One simple word that means so much. This duck is in honor of all the brave women who have fought against breast cancer, those who are battling it today, and those who will deal with it in the future. May we all keep the hope alive and find a cure. Think Pink!!!!!

"Tailfeathers" is a special duck for she represents strength, beauty and courage. She is a Guardian Angel for all women, and under the haven of her wings, peace, comfort, and hope she does bring. She is lovingly dedicated to my Aunt Patti for her incredible bravery and to all women who fight breast cancer. God Bless you all!!!

I wanted my duck to reflect love, laughter and life. The two happiest days in my life were my wedding day and the birth of my daughter. 2007 marked both my fifth wedding anniversary and my daughter's first birthday. I decided to create a duck bride to remind us all of the love that surrounds us and the laughter and life that love can create.

In April 2006, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Due to her breast self-exam, she caught the lump early in her left breast. Unfortunately, she required a mastectomy on that breast because the lump was too close to her nipple and breast distortion was a concern. It was important for my mom to feel and look like she did before the mastectomy. So, she chose to have her left breast reconstructed and right breast reduced. Today, she looks great and is happy to be alive. My decorated 2007 pink Munchkin duck is special because it represents my mom on many levels. My mom has always valued individuality and creativity. She doesn't dress, look and act like a typical 74 year old. Still to this day, she runs an interior plantscaping company that sells, rents and maintains live and silk plants. She started her business over 37 years ago. In addition to her plant business, she also designs jewelry, like one-of-a-kind necklaces. In decorating the pink duck, my mom and I worked together on the design. We agreed that the duck should not look ordinary and similar to the rest of the competitors. Our design represents my mom's personal (creative) and business side. To show my mom's individuality and artist style, we created a beautiful environment that surrounds our classy pink duck. It was never an option to use glitter, feathers and paint on our duck. We chose a silk flower arrangement to represent my mom's business side, while the pink color scheme symbolizes breast cancer awareness. Mom's creative side is incorporated throughout our design. The duck is wearing a long, gold bangle necklace with glass accents. A minature jeweled sprinkling can is perched on the duck's left side. The word "survivor" is placed on a pink ribbon positioned above a silver jeweled belt buckle with etched flowers. It was important to incorporate flowers as the main design element because they symbolize beauty and life. When I think of my mom, these two words typically come to mind. She is a beautiful woman who loves life and everything it has to offer. In learning she had breast cancer, she immediately said, "this is a not a death sentence. I will be alright." Her positive attitude definitely helped during her three surgeries and many months of recovery. She also felt it was important to incorporate the word "survivor" in our flower arrangement. It's her way of telling the world she survived breast cancer and plans on living life to the fullest for many more years to come. Lastly, mom strongly feels that one's sense of beauty doesn't go away due to breast cancer. She is a shining example. As my mom has read throughout the Project Pink campaign, Don't Duck a Breast Exam. She now knows first-hand how that probably saved her life.

Hi I'm 21 years old and my duck is for my grandmother who died from breast cancer when I was little. I believe that I am one of the few young people who care about finding the cure. "So Think Pink"
