Better Than Store Bought Granola Bars

The holiday season is here and that means that sugary sweets are EVERYWHERE. As a parent, we know you worry about a balanced diet and we can also empathize with how many times you have to say no to another cookie. To help bring some balance, the master chefs at Yummy Spoonfuls have a granola bar recipe for an easy, healthy and delicious treat your kids will love. This recipe is lower in sugar, free from artificial ingredients, and filled with bonus nutrients. The oats are a great source of fiber and will keep the bars moist. Adding hempseed or ground flaxseed provide yet another source of fiber and important healthy fats. These granola bars are antioxidant-rich and provide a good immunity boost!

Better Than Store Bought Granola Bars

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15-20 minutes

Servings: 8 square bars

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° and line the bottom of a rectangular tart/quiche pan with parchment paper. You can also use a small sheet pan or even a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl mix rolled oats, oat flour, cranberry, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and hemp seed or ground flaxseed.
  3. In another bowl whisk milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and Yummy Spoonfuls Sweet Potato Carrot & Broccoli until smooth.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients bowl and mix until it is well blended.
  5. Using a spatula spread batter into pan. If you are not using a tart/quiche pan make sure it is not too thick.
  6. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until it is firm to the touch.
  7. Take out of the oven and allow to cool for 2 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack to completely cool down then cut into squares.

Enjoy!

Note: We suggest using a 13-3/4″ x 4 3/8″ x 1″ high tart pan and cut into 8 squares.
