7 Things To Do While Breastfeeding

Stuck under a cluster feeding baby or hooked up to your pump for the next session? Here’s an easy list of things you can do while parked on the couch.

Order your groceries

Services like Amazon Fresh allow you to shop online, then deliver your groceries right to your door. Or there’s Instacart, which sends an independent grocery delivery service to shop for you for a small fee. Both serve areas with larger cities, but, even grocers like Safeway, Kroger, and Publix offer delivery services depending on your location.

Program your vacuum

I LOVE my Roomba, and trust me, if you had one, you would, too. I know, I know, it’s pricey and seems a little indulgent. But, here’s the thing: Several companies have come out with more reasonably-priced models. So, go out and check out your options (or if you’re stuck under a baby do some internet research) get yourself your very own Rosie the Robot, and let it do its thing. Accept your need for this very important household appliance before you have a crawler finding crumbs to snack on every surface of the house.

Automate your life

Let’s face it, you have a new baby that takes up pretty much all of your time. Which means whatever you can take off your plate, you should. Schedule every bill to autopay. Set up alarms for every important daily to-do so when things get hard with baby in tow, you’ll have handy reminders buzzing in your pocket. Write, then schedule a delay send if it’s the middle of the night on all those important emails you need (like applying for your FMLA benefits and your little one’s birth certificate). An Apple Watch is another great tool to have on hand, you’ll always have access to all your apps and text messages you haven’t been able to answer yet.

Schedule those appointments

Make a list, then check it twice. . . of all the appointments you need to make! You know, the ones you’ve been putting off since baby was born: the dentist, a hair appointment, and that casual conversation with the work connection where there’s potential job opportunity that would give you more flexible hours. The days are long, but the years are short. This applies to both how fast you’ll watch your baby grow and how little time you have to get things done.

Listen to a podcast

It’s a great hands-free option that allows you to “zone out” a little. Time ranked these podcasts as must-listens for 2017, and we couldn’t agree more.

Eat

Admit it, you probably have forgotten to eat a single thing today. Heat up a warm meal or make yourself a filling salad, then grab a Milkmakers cookie for an after-meal treat, before you sit down.

Kick up your feet and relax

Yes, really. You need a moment.  Instead of worrying about what may or may not be getting done, make sure to take at least one nursing session a day to veg. Don’t you dare pick up a parenting book or a deep, life lesson inducing tear jerker. This is your time to read US Weekly because a small human is sucking the life out of you. The least you should get out of the deal is 5 minutes to read about gossip.
